Filton Town Council is currently reviewing a number of proposed updates to support the smooth running and fair management of The Sidings Allotments (formerly known as Station Road Allotments).
What’s Changing (Proposed)
- Updated Tenancy Agreement:
A refreshed draft agreement has been produced to make expectations clearer for tenants. This includes practical standards for cultivation (minimum 75% of each plot maintained), waste and water use, and simple processes for plot swaps and general site upkeep. - Plot Renumbering:
The allotment site has been re-mapped to create a clearer and continuous numbering system (see new plot layout below). This update makes it easier to identify plots and maintain accurate records. - Proposed Rent Changes:
To ensure fairness and cover ongoing maintenance and software costs, a proposed rent increase has been suggested:- Full Plot: £80 per year
- Half Plot: £45 per year
(effective from 29th October 2025, subject to approval)
These rates remain below nearby urban averages but better reflect current costs and help sustain allotment management long-term.
Consultation with Current Tenants
All current plot holders have been consulted on the draft tenancy agreement. Comments and feedback have been received and will be reviewed by councillors ahead of any final revisions.
Next Meeting
These proposals will be discussed at the upcoming Assets & Open Spaces Committee Meeting on Tuesday, 21st October 2025 at 7:00PM at Filton Town Council Offices. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Join the Waiting List
A new Waiting List Questionnaire has been launched to help assess eligibility and ensure fair plot allocation as part of the revised management process.
