OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM FILTON TOWN COUNCIL 22nd MAY 2025

Filton Town Council is proud to announce that it is working with Parkwood Leisure, and their sub-contractor Creating Active Futures, to take over the management of Elm Park Leisure Centre (formerly Filton Leisure Centre).

This vital community facility will reopen its doors to the public on Tuesday 27th May, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in local leisure provision.

As part of a carefully planned phased reopening, the cafe & reception will be open from 12noon on Tuesday, serving users of Elm Park during school half-term, with the gym welcoming members of the public from 7am on Monday 2nd June, followed by the swimming pool, which will reopen on Monday 9th June.

Councillor Tom Mewies, Chair of Filton Town Council, said:

"This is a significant milestone for Filton. Bringing Elm Park Leisure Centre back into operation with a major national partner reflects our commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality health and wellbeing services to local residents. We’re looking forward to re-opening this much-loved facility for the benefit of the whole community."

The reopening follows a period of uncertainty caused by the insolvency of the previous operator. However, Filton Town Council, Parkwood Leisure and Creating Active Futures have worked quickly to ensure a smooth transition and improved experience for all users. Residents can expect a welcoming environment, improved website and member app, and a renewed focus on community-driven activities and services.

Further updates, including membership details, opening hours, and programming, will be shared via the Elm Park Leisure Centre website and social media channels.

Glen Hall, Managing Director of Parkwood Leisure, commented:

"We’re delighted to be partnering with Filton Town Council to bring Elm Park Leisure Centre back into full operation. Our team is committed to delivering a first-class experience for all visitors, and we’re excited to play our part in revitalising this important local hub for health, fitness and wellbeing."
